Penn State Beaver's First-Year Testing, Consulting, and Advising Program (FTCAP) provides online testing for placement as well as a thorough academic advising and educational planning program. Students will be invited to this program by letter within a few weeks of completing their online FTCAP testing.
The academic advising and educational planning component of FTCAP consists of a half-day session that students and families are invited to attend. Students will meet one-on-one with a faculty advisor, receive an interpretation of their testing results, schedule classes for fall, and receive general campus service information.
Families are strongly urged to participate in this portion of FTCAP, especially to get acquainted with campus policies, procedures, and services. Please note that students should complete the online testing program by May. Testing dates are held during in June, July, and August, and dates are scheduled according to major.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact the Division of Undergraduate Studies, 724-773-3789.
