How can I arrange a visit to the campus?
Penn State Beaver is nestled on 105 beautifully landscaped acres in the heart of Beaver County in western Pennsylvania. It's just 35 miles northwest of Pittsburgh and only 12 miles from Pittsburgh International Airport. We definitely recommend that you visit our campus, either before you apply or shortly after you submit your admission application. A student Lion Ambassador will be happy to give you a campus tour and answer questions you may have, and an admissions counselor will explain the application and admission process. In addition, a student aid counselor is available to discuss any concerns you have about financing your education. To schedule an appointment, please contact the Admissions Office at 1-877-JOIN-PSU, or visit our website to register for scheduled, on-campus admissions activities.
When should I apply?
We recommend that first-year admission applications be submitted by November 30. Applications will be accepted after that and will be evaluated in a rolling fashion. Transfer admission applications should be submitted as soon as possible prior to the start of the desired semester, due to the lengthier evaluation of the transfer credit process. While Penn State Beaver offers a rolling admission throughout the year, it's best to apply early to allow time for all of your information to be processed before the beginning of a semester.
How should I apply?
We recommend that students apply online by visiting Penn State’s main admissions page and creating a "My Penn State" account. Be sure to include your first and second choices for campus location. To apply with a paper application and/or to schedule a campus visit, contact the Admissions Office at 1-877-JOIN-PSU or email@example.com, or you may apply on campus during any of our admissions events. For a complete listing of events or for more information, please visit admissions.
Will it help if a family member graduated from Penn State?
If a parent, grandparent, sibling, spouse, or child is a Penn State alumnus, this will be taken into consideration.
How will Penn State Beaver notify me of its decision regarding the application for admission?
All students are notified through the mail regarding the outcome of the application evaluation. In addition, an admission decision will be posted to your "My Penn State" account online.
What is the 2+2 program?
The 2+2 program allows students to complete their freshman and sophomore years before moving to a different Penn State location to complete their degree.
Are admission requirements for out-of-state students different than those for in-state students?
No, all students are evaluated in the same way.
When will I need to "transfer" to Penn State University Park?
We don't use the term "transfer" to describe the process of moving from one Penn State location to another because at Penn State, every campus is equal. Penn State is proud of its 2+2 program which enables students to begin their education at one campus, then move to another Penn State location to complete their degree. Students declare a major in the middle of the sophomore year and, at that time, select the campus at which they plan to finish their studies in their junior and senior years. Every credit earned at any Penn State campus is equal to credits offered at University Park. When selecting an entrance to major in their sophomore year, students at all locations are on equal footing with students at University Park.
Can I complete my entire education at Penn State Beaver?
Sometimes. It depends on the program you choose. Typically, students complete the first two years of nearly all of Penn State's 160+ degree programs at Beaver campus, then move to University Park or another Penn State location to complete their junior and senior years. Beaver campus offers six baccalaureate degrees and three associate degrees in the fields of Administration of Justice, Business, Communications, Information Sciences and Technology, Project and Supply Chain Management, and Psychology. These degrees can be completed entirely on campus. For more information, please visit degrees and majors.
