Obama to visit Penn State Beaver Thursday
Sen. Barack Obama will take part in a town hall question-and-answer event at 1 p.m. Thursday (March 13) in the gymnasium of the Penn State Beaver campus. Tickets for the event are free and limited to two per person. They will be available from noon-8 p.m., or while supplies last, today (March 12) at Penn State Beaver's Ross Administration Building.

Penn State moves to become a direct loan participant for students
The turmoil being experienced in the bond markets has spread to the student loan industry. In an effort to provide its students with a stable source of funding for federal student loans, Penn State plans to participate in the Direct Student Loan Program.

Medical Minute: March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
For nonsmokers, colorectal cancer is the No. 1 cause of cancer death in the United States. For 2008, there will be an estimated 145,000 new cases and 55,000 deaths due to colorectal cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is estimated to have claimed the lives of 2,730 Pennsylvanians in 2007. For unknown reasons, Pennsylvanians are diagnosed with and succumb to colorectal cancer at rates above the national average.
