Beaver alumna will be fall commencement speaker
Kimberly J. Kockler, a Penn State Beaver alumna, will be the guest speaker at campus' fall commencement ceremonies at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in the Student Union Building auditorium. Kockler holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Penn State and is vice president of government affairs for Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA).

Firefighters invite students to present research on rescue equipment
More than 100 area firefighters as well as firefighting equipment manufacturers are expected to attend a presentation by Penn State Beaver engineering students at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Pine Run Volunteer Fire Department, Station 59, 1691 Ninth Street Extension, in Freedom, Pa. The students are members of the Engineering Design course taught by James A. Hendrickson, instructor in engineering at Beaver campus. Working in teams throughout the fall semester, students interviewed 57 Beaver County fire departments and firefighting equipment manufacturers to conduct research on
improving and enhancing firefighters' safety and equipment.

Penn State Beaver to hold, sponsor free holiday concert
The Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Monaca Cornet Band will present a free concert of holiday music at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the auditorium of the Penn State Beaver Student Union Building. Faculty Speakers Series dates are set for spring semester
Peter Deutsch, associate professor of physics at Penn State Beaver, has announced the spring semester dates for the Penn State Beaver Faculty Speakers Series. Deutsch is the coordinator of the program, which features monthly presentations on research conducted by faculty members in a variety of areas, including science, liberal arts, technology, engineering and communications.
The presentations are free and open to the public as well as students, faculty and staff.
