Office of Continuing Education will offer HAZWOPER training this summer
The Penn State Beaver Office of Continuing Education will offer a 40-hour training session in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER), Monday through Saturday, July 21 to 26, and Monday through Friday, July 28 to August 1. Classes will be held after 5 p.m. and on Saturday.
The course will consist of classroom and practical instruction, including theories and application of hazardous waste site activities; safety and health concepts; teamwork; and field exercises requiring application of the use of personal protective equipment, monitoring instruments, site control, and decontamination procedures.
Training participants may be subject to strenuous activity, including the use of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); air-purifying respirator; and Level A containment suits to provide chemical protection. Participants must have proper medical clearance and documented respirator fit test.
A 20 percent discount is offered to participating groups with two or more individuals.
