Wroble Biglan Brings Prevention Center Course to Campus
Minhnoi Wroble Biglan, assistant professor of psychology at Penn State Beaver, has invited CONTACT Beaver Valley to offer a course on campus this spring. Skills for Better Listening will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 18-April 10.
CONTACT Beaver Valley is an organization that provides 24-hour phone help lines, crisis intervention, referral services and reassurance service for isolated, elderly or handicapped persons. CONTACT responds to callers' needs 365 every day of the year, 24 hours a day.
Students in Wroble-Biglan's "Special Topics in Psychology" class, as well as the public, will attend the class, as well as accompanying workshops. The class is designed to improve an individual's ability to relate more effectively with family, co-workers and friends as well as provide the individual with knowledge and self-awareness to respond to the needs of those around him / her. The class is a prerequisite for anyone who wishes to become a CONTACT telephone volunteer in the 24-hour service and / or in the Reassurance Service.
