Beaver Lady Lions Greater Allegheny, Set Make-up Game
The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team won their first game on Sunday, April 13, 7-5, over Penn State Greater Allegheny. Because of rain, the second game was suspended in the top of the second inning with Beaver leading, 6-1, with runners on second and third and no outs. Game two will resume at PS Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, April 15, 4 p.m.
In the win, freshman Kayla Chambers (South Side High School) pitched seven strong innings, gave up two earned runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out seven. Offensively, Beaver was led by sophomores Jamie Clouse (Laurel High School) and Chelsea Brownlee (Avella High School) with two hits each. One of Brownlee’s two hits was a double and junior Melissa Swoager (South Side High School) tripled. Brownlee and junior Taylor Rzeczkowski (Highlands High School) each drove in two runs in the win.
The Beaver Lady Lions are now 15-13 overall and 12-1 in the PSUAC. Following the game on Tuesday, the women return to action on Thursday, April 17 when they host Waynesburg University for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
