Undergraduate Research Fair Winners Announced
Three students won top honors for their research and participation in the annual Penn State Beaver Undergraduate Research Fair held recently on campus. A total of 24 students discussed their research during oral and/or poster presentations and were required to work with a faculty mentor in researching their topic and preparing a presentation.
The winner of the Oral Presentation – Part I was Kara Copeland, a junior communications major from North Versailles. Her topic was "Integration of Super Bowl Commercials and the Internet," and her faculty mentors were John Chapin, associate professor of communications, and Courtney Young, reference librarian and assistant professor of women’s studies.
The winner of the Oral Presentation – Part II was Jamie Silicki, a junior communications major from Beaver. Her topic was "Third-Person Perception and Cultivation Analysis in Internet-Related Violence" and her mentors were Chapin and Young.
Silicki also won the Poster Presentation. Her topic was "Attitudes About Domestic Violence" and her faculty mentor was Chapin.
