Baseball, Softball Teams Miss Chance at PSUAC Title, Move On to USCAA
The Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team and the Lady Lions softball team both missed their shot at winning the PSUAC Championship last week.
On Wednesday, April 30 the women entered the PSUAC Tournament in Williamsport as the #1 seed, but were defeated by Penn State Greater Allegheny, 8-4, and Penn State Hazleton, 5-4. On Friday, May 2 the baseball team finished second with a 3-1 loss to Penn College, winner of this year’s PSUAC title.
The softball team finished the regular season at 23-18 overall and 19-1 in the PSUAC while the baseball team ended with 34-16 overall and 16-4 in the PSUAC.
Both teams are now headed for the USCAA Championships. The Lady Lions are the #6 seed in the USCAA National Softball Tournament, May 8 to 11, at the Borg Warner Softball Complex in Decatur, Illinois. The event will be hosted by Robert Morris College Springfield and Central Illinois Girls Softball. On Friday, May 9 the women take on Spalding University, Louisville, Kentucky; St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana, and Judson College, Marion Alabama.
On May 12 the Lions head to the USCAA Baseball Championship hosted by The Apprentice School and the Peninsula Pilots baseball club at War Memorial Stadium, Hampton, Virginia. On Tuesday, May 13 they take on Robert Morris College Springfield of Illinois.
