Jackson Appointed Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Jessica Jackson has been named an assistant coach of the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions basketball team. In addition, Jackson was recently appointed as Beaver's student activities/residence life coordinator, effective Aug. 1. Her responsibilities for the Lady Lions will include on-floor coaching, recruiting, academic monitoring and film exchange.
"I'm very excited about adding Coach Jackson to the staff," said Bert DeSalvo, head coach of the women's basketball team. "Her enthusiasm, organization and hard work will make her a welcome member of the program."
Jackson is a native of Middleburg, Va., and attended Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville where she was a three-year high school varsity letter-winner in basketball for the Vikings. During her senior year, Jessica led the team in rebounds and helped the team to advance to the Regional Tournament. For her efforts on the court, she was named Defensive Player of the Year in her senior year.
She attended Lynchburg College in Virginia and assisted with the Lady Hornets basketball team. Off the court, she achieved academic success and received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Academic Accolades honoring her work from 2000 to 2003.
