Young Promoted to Associate Librarian
Penn State recently announced that Courtney Young, Penn State Beaver reference librarian and assistant professor of women's studies, was promoted to associate librarian, reference, University Libraries and Scholarly Communications, effective July 1.
Prior to joining Beaver campus in 2004, Young was a social sciences librarian at Penn State University Park. Previous positions included adjunct professor in the Women's Studies Program and an assistant instruction librarian at Michigan State University; diversity intern librarian at Ohio State University; circulation assistant at Episcopal Divinity School and Weston Jesuit School of Theology Library in Cambridge, Mass., and guest lecturer and teaching assistant at The College of Wooster, Ohio.
In May, Young was elected to a three-year term as councilor-at-large to the American Library Association and was elected vice president/president-elect of the New Members' Round Table. She also is a member of the Beaver campus Diversity Committee.
Young holds a master's degree in library and information science from Simmons College and a bachelor's degree in English with minors in women's studies and black studies from The College of Wooster.
