Tiger Maple String Band Presents Free Concert on Thursday, Aug. 7
The Tiger Maple String Band will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Penn State Beaver Brodhead Cultural Center’s J.P. Giusti Amphitheater. There is no rain date for this program. This year's summer series is co-sponsored in part by The Times, ARA Corp., The Idea Works and the Beaver Valley Musicians Union Trust Fund.
The Tiger Maple String Band is an acoustic group dedicated to continuing traditional and original old-time music. The band's repertoire includes Appalachian fiddle tunes, Scottish ballads, Irish jigs and Cajun waltzes.
The Beaver Valley Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association will sell hot and cold refreshments at the Cultural Center concession stand before and during the show. All sale proceeds benefit the chapter's scholarships for Beaver campus students.
The Mill Creek Valley Historical Association will staff and host free tours of the Baker-Dungan Museum located on the hill overlooking the Cultural Center's amphitheater. This year's museum theme is Pittsburgh's Founding Fathers. The museum, which is open for one hour before all shows held in the amphitheater, contains a variety of local historical artifacts, tools, furniture, clothing and other displays.
