Campus community invited to participate in MLK service project
The Penn State Beaver Office of Student Affairs and the Beaver campus Alpha Phi Omega fraternity interest group invite campus students, faculty, and staff to participate in the annual Make it a Day On, Not a Day Off service project honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009. No classes will be held that day, but all University offices will be open and operations will proceed as normal.
The service project has been implemented during the last several years by campus students and staff and is designed to honor King’s vision of helping the communities in which we live. The service project, to be announced soon, will be a hands-on event that will contribute to the lives of community members in need.
In January 2008 campus students, faculty, and staff spent MLK day working at the Center for Hope in Ambridge where they packaged and distributed food and organized clothing donations.
