Admissions Office will host free workshops
The Penn State Beaver Admissions Office will host two free workshops open to the public on Saturday, Jan. 31. An Application Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a Financial Aid Workshop will begin at 10 a.m. in the Student Union Building.
Advance registration is not required for the Application Workshop and staff members will be available to assist in completing and returning Penn State applications. The $50 application fee will be waived for anyone completing an application specifically for Beaver and some Beaver applicants might receive an immediate admissions decision. In addition, financial aid information and campus tours will be available.
To receive an immediate admissions decision, the applicant must bring her/his official high school transcript to the workshop. Only applications to Penn State Beaver will be received and evaluated. Applications to other Penn State locations will be completed and forwarded, along with the application fee, to the respective campus for evaluation. Paid application fees are not refundable.
The Financial Aid Workshop will provide instructions and information for parents and students on filing for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Advance registration is required. Participants will learn about various types of financial aid for which they qualify, including grants, loans and scholarships. Staff members will also provide guidance in navigating potential pitfalls in financing a college education.
