Beaver campus and Ellwood City Forge host renowned business author
Penn State Beaver and Ellwood City Forge recently hosted renowned business author Dr. Eli Goldratt who gave a free, two-hour presentation in the campus Student Union Building auditorium. Goldratt, who discussed the global economy, is also known as one of the business world’s leading educators and philosophers. His stop at Beaver campus was part of his current tour of the United States. The event drew more than 100 people from local businesses and industries. Ellwood City Forge, a subsidiary of Ellwood Group, Inc., is a 99-year old, family-owned company that produces heavy industrial forgings.
Goldratt, often characterized as unconventional and stimulating, is known for exhorting his audiences to examine and reassess business practices with a fresh, new vision. He is the author of The Goal, an underground bestseller that utilizes a non-traditional approach to convey important business information, i.e. it is a business textbook written in novel form and disguised as a love story. The Goal emphasizes Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints which is an overall framework for helping businesses determine what and how to change. Goldratt’s work also includes patents in areas ranging from medical devices, drip irrigation, and temperature sensors.
Goldratt received his doctorate and master’s degrees from Israel’s Bar-Ilan University and a bachelor’s degree from Tel Aviv University.
