Gettings contributes to book on aging population nutrition
Mary Alice Gettings, nutrition and health extension educator for the Penn State Cooperative Extension in Beaver County, contributed a chapter titled “Food Safety and Older People” for the book, “Food in the Aging Population,” a reference for those involved in the research, development, and provision of food products for the older generation. In addition, Gettings was selected as the 2009 Outstanding Dietitian of the Year in Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association. Gettings is a member of the Beaver Valley Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, a group that provides social networking opportunities for the campus and community as well as funds for Alumni Chapter scholarships at Beaver campus.
