Students Organize Relief Efforts for Haitian Earthquake Victims
On Monday, Feb. 1 Penn State Beaver students, including the Student Government Association (SGA), launched “For the Love of Haiti,” a project designed to provide aid and relief efforts for victims of the January 12 earthquake in Haiti. Students will collect funds from the campus community in between classes, in the Brodhead Bistro, at athletic and programming events, and in a variety of campus buildings. All monetary donations will be channeled through the SGA and given directly to UNICEF. Red wristbands imprinted with “For the Love of Haiti” and red heart stickers will be given to donors. Banners advertising the project will be displayed at events held in the gym.
To make a monetary donation to the project, please make checks payable to Penn State SGA and mail to Denise Turyan, Office of Student Affairs, Penn State Beaver, 100 University Drive, Monaca, PA 15061. Donations will be accepted throughout February.
