Alumni Society holds reception for former Beaver students
On Thursday, April 15, the Penn State Beaver Alumni Society hosted its annual reception for former Beaver campus students now attending Penn State University Park. The event was held in the Nittany Lion Inn’s Alumni Lounge.
In addition, members of the society, along with Beaver campus faculty and staff, conducted focus groups with the students to learn more about their experiences in and out of the classroom at the Beaver and University Park campuses.
'The focus groups give us a great idea about what we’re doing well at Beaver campus and provide a helpful look at how we can continue to provide our students with excellent academic and extracurricular programs before they move on to University Park,' said Norm Krause. Krause and John Italia, Beaver campus alumni and members of the Beaver Alumni Society Board of Directors, attended the reception and assisted with the focus groups.
Beaver Chancellor Gary Keefer welcomed the group and provided an update on recent programs and activities at the campus. Other Beaver faculty and staff in attendance were Donna Kuga, director of academic affairs; JoAnn Chirico, senior instructor in sociology; Irene Wolf, senior instructor in philosophy; Diana Patterson, director of development; Amy M. Krebs, director of campus and community relations, and Mona DeLisio, external relations assistant. Kevin Barron, a Beaver campus alumnus and Penn State graduate, also attended the event. Barron is director of volunteer management for the Penn State Alumni Association.
