Penn State Beaver hosts 2011 Congressional Art Competition
Penn State Beaver is hosting an exhibit of the winners and finalists of the 2011 Congressional Art Competition sponsored by Congressman Jason Altmire and the Fourth Congressional District. All high school students within the Fourth Congressional District were invited to participate. The 13 finalists and first, second, and third place winners were honored at a reception hosted by Beaver campus on Sunday, May 1.
Speakers included Altmire, a member of the 2010-2011 Penn State Beaver Advisory Board, and Amy M. Krebs, director of campus and community relations at Beaver campus.
First place winner was Joshua Graef from the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School. Second place winner was Laura Soxman of Deer Lakes High School, and third place winner was Mark Davis, Seneca Valley High School.
Altmire’s office sponsored a reception for the artists and their families in the lower lobby of the Student Union Building, where the art will be on display until Thursday, May 12.
