Public invited to attend free cultural events on campus
The public is invited to attend two free cultural events in September at Penn State Beaver.
Ball in the House, an a cappella group, will perform at noon, Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Brodhead Bistro. The film, “In the Time of the Butterflies,” will be shown at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the Student Union Building auditorium.
Ball in the House features five men who combine soul, pop, and rhythm and blues using only their voices and no musical accompaniment. The group has toured throughout the country and performed on TV and radio ads.
“In the Time of the Butterflies” is presented as part of the 2012-2013 Global Film Series and was inspired by the true story of three sisters who were murdered for their part in an underground plot to overthrow a corrupt dictator and government in the Dominican Republic in 1960.
Pre and/or post-discussion of the film will be led by JoAnn Chirico, Beaver campus senior instructor in sociology.
