  • Go to class unless you're too sick to get out of bed. If you skip class, you won't know what work or activities you're missing.
  • If you really can't make it to class, call your professor and let him/her know you won't be there, even if the professor doesn't take attendance. It could make a difference in your grade.
  • Don't arrive late for class. Make a conscious effort to give yourself enough time to get to class.
  • Don't lie to your professors about anything. If you're having problems, tell them the truth. In most cases, professors will be more lenient with you if you're completely honest.
  • Read bulletin boards! They tell you everything that's going on around campus.
  • Get involved in at least one out-of-class activity like Lion Ambassadors or SGA. It looks great on your resume and helps you get to know other people, especially those in high places!
  • Visit your academic adviser more than once a semester, even if it's just to say hello. This helps your adviser put a face to your name.
  • Make sure your academic adviser knows your name. He/she isn't psychic!
  • Visit your professors during their office hours. If your grade is borderline, but your professor knows you care, stopping by his/her office might help you earn a higher grade!
  • If you have a problem with a professor, talk with the professor first. Make an appointment to see him/her. If you still aren't satisfied after talking with your professor, then consider an alternative way to approach the issue.
